Dr Maria Satra is Assistant Professor of Molecular Genetics at the University of Thessaly and Director of the Laboratory of Molecular Biology & Genetics. With more than 20 years of experience in molecular genetics and genetic diagnostics, she specialises in genetic counselling and the support of individuals and couples planning a pregnancy or undergoing fertility treatment.

She combines academic excellence with clinical expertise, providing personalised genetic counselling based on scientific evidence, current international guidelines and compassionate patient care.

Genetic Counselling: Her expertise includes genetic risk assessment, interpretation of genetic test results and counselling before conception, during pregnancy and throughout assisted reproduction. She helps individuals and couples make personalised, evidence-based decisions with confidence and clarity.

Research & Academic Excellence: As the Director of the Laboratory of Molecular Biology & Genetics at the University of Thessaly, Dr Satra teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students while actively contributing to research in molecular genetics, disease prevention and reproductive medicine. She has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed scientific publications and collaborates with multidisciplinary research teams in Greece and internationally.
